Trip Itinerary

You will experience some of Northern Spain’s best gastronomy, wines, culture and sights. You will sail to the regions of Ría de Arousa, Pontevedra and Vigo that together form a unique configuration in Spain, perfect for sailing holidays.

Vigo transfer to Baiona – Boat to Cíes Island – Aldán – Illa de Arousa – O Salnés – Santiago (day trip)

Day 01 – Arrival to Baiona
Arrival and transfer from Vigo airport to Baiona. On arrival to Baiona, you will visit the old town and have dinner at the Parador´s restaurant.  On March 1, 1493, the Pinta, one of the ships from Columbus’ voyage to discover the New World, returned to Europe and arrived in Baiona, making the town’s port the first to receive news of the discovery of America. A replica of the ship can be visited in the port, and the event is celebrated every year. In 1585 the inhabitants of Baiona repelled an attempt to take the town by the privateer Francis Drake. After sightseeing Baiona, accommodation at the Parador.
Day 02 – Cies Islands
In the morning, after breakfast, get comfortable on board to start your sailing route, and to cruise to Cies Islands, part of the Atlantic Islands Maritime – Terrestrial National Park. Upon arrival, you can either walk to the lighthouse or take one of the many walking routes around the island. There are spectacular views, dramatic granite rock formations and sea birds that nest on the island. Weather permitting, you can go scuba diving or spend the day at the beautiful “Rodas” beach, voted best beach in the world by The Guardian newspaper. You can choose to have lunch either on board or at the beach. You will have a seafood dinner on board. Accommodation on board.
Day 03 – Aldan
After breakfast on board, you will sail to the estuary of Aldan to discover this beautiful seaside village. Lunch on board. In the afternoon you can rent kayaks to stroll along the harbor or hike to discover the wonderful views from the top of the mountains. You will have dinner at a local restaurant with stunning views, and spend the night on board. Accommodation on board.
Day 04 – Illa de Arousa
After breakfast on board, you will sail to the spectacular Ria de Arousa, mooring at any of its uninhabited islands, and enjoying a nice lunch with local wines. Dinner in Cambados at a local seafood restaurant. Accommodation on board.
Day 05 – Albariño Wine Region – O Salnes
After breakfast, you will leave your boat to spend the following days in the Albariño Wine Region of O Salnés. You will go to a very special place surrounded by vineyards, where you will have a Galician cooking class by a local cook, learning how to make “empanada” and other traditional Galician dishes. As you prepare your menu, you will have a tasting of fine Albariño wines. After lunch, you will have time to rest or have a swim in the swimming pool. In the evening, you will go to a winery for a visit followed by a wine tasting and have dinner at your beautiful hotel.
Day 06 – Albariño Wine Region – O Salnes
After breakfast, get ready for a day trip to Santiago de Compostela. You will have a morning tour on arrival with a local guide, visiting the Cathedral, the Old Town and the local market. You will have time off for lunch and to explore the city. In the evening, you will return to your boutique hotel, and have a farewell dinner in Cambados, at a Michelin starred restaurant.
Day 7 – Vigo – End of the tour
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Vigo’s airport for your flights.
